Sit-down with Golfers & CA on the Future of the Hobbit's Glen Clubhouse
As you know, CA has begun working with The H. Chambers Company design firm on the renovation or replacement of the Hobbit's Glen Golf Course Clubhouse. We're still in the first phase, which includes space planning and programming. This is where we need help from you, our golfers.
Chambers is hosting a community meeting - specifically for golfers - on Monday, February 6, at 6:30pm at the Hobbit's Glen Clubhouse. There will be a brief presentation, followed by a conversation between Chambers and the golfing community to discuss what you, as avid golfers, would like to see at the clubhouse.
Golf operations will continue throughout the whole renovation or replacement process. If you have any questions, please call 410-730-5980.

Gas Line Easement Work at Hobbit's Glen
As part of work being done for the gas line easement by BGE at Hobbit's Glen, Mercier Tree Service will start clearing a 20' path directly over the gas line beginning this week. This involves limbing overhanging branches or complete removal if the entire tree is within the 20'. The gas line runs from the right side of Hole # 7 just before the downhill slope of the fairway all the way to the left of the Hole # 3 tee. Most of the trees that are adjacent to the gas line on the course will just be limbed. However there are a few large trees, two by the Hole # 6 tee and one by the Hole # 2 tee, that will need to be removed. This will not affect any trees integral to the course. We don't anticipate having to close any holes at this point, however it may be necessary to start at the back nine first. For more information, please call Hobbit's Glen at 410-730-5980.

Sections of Fairway Hills to be closed beginning December 1
On December 1, 2011 the Howard County Parallel Sewer contractor will begin with the initial steps in establishing the access road from Columbia Road along the golf cart path adjacent to the green at hole number 6 and also opening up the limit of disturbance across the fairway on the fifth hole to lay pipe. Please note that section of the golf course will be closed for the duration of the winter.
The contractor is currently on schedule for completing the work in Fairway Hills Golf Club by March 31, 2012, weather permitting.
